Melinda Gates Foundation and the Dutch government, frequently evaluates seed companies in order to shine a light on how seed companies can step up efforts to improve access to quality seeds of improved varieties for smallholder farmers.
Innovations
Some of the remarkable successes of the company to date are the high-yielding bitter gourd varieties Palee, Prachi and Maya, and the high-yielding ridge gourd variety Naga. EWS India also introduced Arrow Gold and Maxima Yellow marigolds whose keeping quality has increased farmers' profit. The hot pepper Hakone is the first hybrid in its segment and has been very popular among farmers. Another hit in the market is the wax gourd Gold which is the first hybrid "waxless" wax gourd.
The company became known for innovation, with a cutting-edge seed technology and a wide portfolio of
products. It has introduced the large scale commercialization of encrusted and water soluble coated onion
seeds. It was also the first company to introduce encrusted marigold seeds in the market.
