Shishu Sneha, as its name suggests, is a baby-friendly soap, to be used on just-born infants and toddlers upto the age of 36 months. Baby skin is very thin and most delicate. It is extremely sensitive to external stressors, and requires great care and protection. Although it has the same number of layers, it is to be noted that each layer is considerably thinner than in adult skin, thereby limiting the barrier function. Baby skin is especially sensitive to chemical, physical and microbial influences, and anything which comes in contact with it is immediately absorbed and penetrates rapidly into deeper skin layers, and ultimately into the blood stream also. It is highly sensitive to UV rays, which is because of lesser melanin (the skin pigment) produced due to lower activity of melanocytes as compared to adult skin. It is therefore, imperative to know what we are putting on our little darling's skin.
