The waste/sludge oil cleared from ships are pumped to authorized road tankers and transported to our processing unit at Vasai.
Upon arrival at the processing unit, the Laboratory inspects all the documents and the necessary manifests and then draws samples from the tanker for testing at the Laboratory. All aspects of safety are considered while sampling and PPEs used by the Laboratory personal ensure that the samples are drawn in a note-worthy manner.
The testing is carried out and upon approval the waste oil is then pumped to the waste oil storage tanks. The waste oil is processed in batches and not on a continuous process. The waste oil is charged to the kettle and allowed to settle for a few hours. Free water is separated out and transferred to the water treatment unit where the water is clarified and then used for gardening purpose.
The waste oil is the heated with agitation to a temperature above the boiling point of water to dehydrate any remaining water. The condensate water is fed to the cooling tower.
The waste oil is then subjected to centrifuging to remove any sediments and heavy materials or solid contaminants.
The water and sludge/sediment free waste oil is now blended with lower hydrocarbons to yield high quality furnace oil that is stored in designated tanks for sale.
Thus “our environmentally sound management of hazardous wastes” takes all steps required to ensure that the hazardous wastes are managed in a manner which will protect health and the environment against the adverse effects which may result from such wastes.
